As the sole proprietor of Lawrence David Custom Apparel, Butch makes it his goal to personally oversee all operations of the company to assure a standard of excellence in his production. What sets him apart from other competitors in the made-to-measure market is his passion for the trade, his meticulous measurement techniques, and his discerning eye for design and style. Butch prides himself on the personalized attention he offers every client.

Our Story

Lawrence David, known affectionately as Butch, has always nurtured a passion for luxurious fashion. This passion blossomed during his early career as a successful apparel manufacturer shortly after college. Although Butch briefly ventured into finance, it was not long before he recognized that his true interests lay within the realm of men's luxury fashion.
In 2004, Butch took a significant leap by acquiring a 15-year-old custom tailoring operation from Martin Lewis, a name once acclaimed for excellence in custom men's apparel. He rebranded the company as LD Custom Apparel, continuing the legacy of offering products that uphold impeccable standards. Under Butch's leadership, the focus remains on personalized attention, meticulous detailing, and exceptional craftsmanship.
As a distinguished Board Member of the Custom Tailors and Designers Association (CTDA) and the only designated Master Custom Designer (MCD) in New York City, Butch is well-respected in the industry.
